Commercial Design
March 2024
Designed by Allied Office for Klyne Construction, this Botany-based office reflects a community of makers and designers. Structurally, it's a simple yet effective composition of three stacked concrete volumes—post, beam, and slab—built within tight budget constraints.
This approach allowed for expansive glazing and integrated planting zones on upper-level edge beams.
To manage sunlight, the upper level projects beyond the ground floor glazing, while fixed brick screens—featuring visible extrusion holes—filter light on the top floor, offering both shade and views through greenery and across nearby rooftops.
For Gully House, Klyne Construction worked with Andrew Burges Architects from the early stages to align the budget with the creative vision.
A modern farmhouse in the NSW Highlands, Little Cottage blends minimalism with tradition, landscape, and rural serenity.
