Little Cottage

Located in the NSW Southern Highlands, Little Cottage by Akin Atelier is a modern take on the rural farmhouse and the first stage of a larger master plan including a family homestead and land regeneration. Built on the footprint of an old weatherboard house, the new cottage retains a modest scale with vaulted ceilings, minimalist interiors, and a wraparound veranda.

It includes two bedrooms with en-suites, a mudroom, and open-plan living. Traditional materials—recycled blackbutt, galvanised steel—are used with precision.

A separate studio shed and central firepit area create a shared outdoor space, with a refined landscape plan by Dangar Barin Smith tying it all together.
